7 Daily Habits to Boost Productivity

Many of us are working from home for the first time. You may need help organizing tasks and learning how to make your mornings more productive. We have compiled a list of 7 daily habits that can help you stay focused and boost productivity. 

  1. Eat Breakfast

The word breakfast literally means “to break fast”. A fast is a period of time where you don’t eat. Eating breakfast breaks the fast you’ve been observing since you went to sleep the night before. 

We’ve all heard the saying that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Eating breakfast ensures that we get the nutrition that our bodies need to focus and gives us energy throughout the day. Skipping breakfast can result in overeating at lunch. Eat a healthy, balanced breakfast every morning.

2. Stay Hydrated – Drink Water

Your body loses water through breathing, sweating, and digestion. It is essential to rehydrate by drinking water and eating foods that contain water. Water keeps every system in the body functioning correctly, according to Harvard Health. Staying hydrated balances your body temperature, can help you feel full, and promotes healthy skin. 

How much water should you drink? It depends on your size, weight, activity level, and where you live.

3. Take a Break

Take a 5-minute break every hour. Walk away from the computer for a quick mental break. Use that time to grab a snack, take a walk, or stretch. 

4. Prepare the Night Before

Sometimes the most significant impact of our day is how prepared we are for it. Take a few minutes before bedtime to prepare your lunch, iron your clothes, create a to-do list, and check your calendar for meetings. 

5. Prioritize Daily Tasks

Create daily tasks that will help you prioritize what you need to do for the day. If you have tasks that need immediate attention, prioritize those first. 

6. Establish a Morning Ritual

The first hour of your day can set the tone for the rest of it. Your mental and emotional well-being should be the focus each morning. Before you start responding to emails and checking your missed calls, take some time to meditate, stretch, breathe, write, anything you can do to help center your mind and body. It can help you make the rest of your day productive. 

7. Move Around

Exercise increases blood flow throughout your body, supplying your brain with extra energy and oxygen. Exercise delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and helps your cardiovascular system work more efficiently. And when your heart and lung health improve, you have more energy to tackle daily chores, according to the Mayo Clinic
